There are lots of activities, groups, and projects for students to take part in at the college and we encourage you to take part as much as possible.
Student Council
Students can share their thoughts and views on how Orpheus College could improve.
Representative on the Board of Trustees
We ask for student representation for the Trustee Board meetings four times each year to represent all learners at Orpheus.
Student Surveys
We ask students for feedback throughout the academic year to reflect on teaching and learning, resources, and well-being to constantly consider how we can improve the College.
Student Arts Council
Students can apply to join the Orpheus Arts Council. We meet regularly throughout the year to choose the artwork we display at Orpheus, plan for future art projects for exhibition and commission new artwork from Orpheus artists.
Student Wellbeing Forum
We ask for student representation for our well-being forum. Every half-term well-being representatives gather feedback from their tutor groups and discuss and share ideas about well-being and mental health.
Student housing and care forum
This forum is an opportunity to talk through any care-related issues students may have or to share new care ideas. Tenants are invited to attend the forum to discuss any issues regarding their flat at Orpheus. This joint forum takes place once a term.
There is a range of activities that students can take part in at Orpheus, such as weekly swimming trips, Pilates, Zumba dancing, off-site discos, social clubs, theatre, film and dinner trips, garden games, gym sessions, gardening, and creative crafts. Students can also suggest activities they would like to take part in.
There are also numerous events throughout the year, such as Outreaches, shows and Enterprise activities.
There is a variety of lunch clubs that are led by students. Students are welcome to attend as many or as few as they wish. The activities are a great time for students to catch up, share experiences and views, and just have some fun.
ACT II is a club outside college hours to join in with evening and weekend activities.
This is a student-led evening programme open to both day and tenant students.
Lunch is between 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm
As part of our Healthy College Approach there is a selection of hot and cold food that can be purchased from the canteen; with gluten-free,
vegetarian, and vegan options available. If you have any special dietary needs, please contact our Orpheus Chef Sharon Taylor.
You can also bring your own packed lunch if you prefer but please do not bring nuts or fizzy drinks to college.
